Prof Steve Ling
Lab Director
Prof. Ling has been at the forefront of creating state-of-the-art artificial intelligence models for practical imaging problems, forecasting, non-invasive bioinstrumentation, and multi-sensor systems. As the Lab Head of the AIVision Nexus Laboratory, he spearheads research in these areas and supervising/ supervised over 20 PhD students in UTS. His dedication to advancing knowledge is evidenced by his extensive publication record, which includes over 230 research papers, with 110 of them being top journal papers.

Dr Sunetra Banerjee
Research Fellow
Dr. Banerjee earned her PhD in the application of machine learning to biomedical image processing. As a Part-Time Research Fellow at AIVision Nexus Laboratory, her focus is on pioneering cutting-edge deep learning models tailored to practical imaging issues.

Chen (Jemmy) Zhang
PhD Student
As a PhD student at AIVision Nexus Laboratory, Jemmy is involved in a number of research projects focused on developing Transformer based deep learning model to segment the features of ultrasound images, Jemmy is a valuable member of the team.

Maximilian Achim Pfeffer
PhD student
Maximilian is a PhD stduent at AIVision Nexus Laboratory, with a focus on developing transformer based deep learning approach for real time brain computer interface applications. With a background in EEG and experience in AI, Maximilian brings a unique perspective to the team.

Ranit Mandal
PhD student
Ranit is a passionate researcher in the field of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI). His research focuses on exploring the interconnectivity of the human brain and integrating it with computers through AI. He is particularly interested in leveraging techniques such as image and thought reconstruction and enabling real-time robot control using EEG signals.

Jian Li
PhD student
As a PhD student at AIVision Nexus Laboratory, Jian focuses on deep learning models for X-ray and ultrasound imaging. His research aims to leverage AI-driven image analysis and automated diagnostic report generation to enhance medical diagnostics.
Erandhi Maheshika
Master by Research Student
Hubert completed his Ph.D. with the FEIT at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, in 2024. His research interests include IoT technology, data processing and analysis, machine learning, and deep learning for time series. He has participated in several industrial projects, including the development of AI-based air pollution forecast models, and signal processing for building health.

Chandan Das
PhD student
​Chandan Das is a PhD student at AIVision Nexus Laboratory. He focuses on real-time motor imagery EEG signal classification using advanced deep learning models for brain-computer interface applications. Chandan has extensive experience in software architecture and design, data warehouse, data analytics, DevOps, and MLOps. He is very application-focused and will be a vital contributor to the team
Erandhi is a Master of Research student looking at the development of a novel deep learning model to monitor Parkinsonism symptoms in patients on antipsychotic medication. She is an experienced researcher in Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders.
